What a great honor to lead a session on Light and Sound during Echo | Church Media Conference yesterday. The room was packed to the gills, we ran out of quick reference handouts and I’ve been flooded with a lot of emails, @ replies, and DMs to share my talk online.
During the talk I talked about how Lighting and Audio are probably the two most important aspect of videography, and how they are a huge topic. Everything depends on good light and crisp, rich sound. The best way to approach the three elements: Video, Sound, Lighting is to apply the G.I.G.O. Principal (Good In, Good Out) or (Garbage In, Garbage Out)
Mastering the basics, one can begin to explore the more dramatic possibilities of light: how the angle, power, and warmth of light effects your subject, stimulates emotions, and expresses your creativity. Understanding light is a lifelong project.
