After a quick three week turn around, my video I produced for The Assemblies of God’s General Council in Phoenix, Arizona aired infront of thousands at the U·S Airways Center and on-line. The story is about how God is using Lawton First Assembly to make it’s unique mark within it’s community and God’s Kingdom. I had the honor to serve at Lawton First for almost 4 years, it is a truly unique place fully committed to welcoming people.
Here are some links where you read about the process of pre-production and production. I hope you enjoy the piece.

Yesterday I led a breakout at the ECHO conference in Dallas on the Art of Storytelling.
I was amazed by the turn out. I feel God is really using this Conference to really reach into churches to add focus and a unique approach to communicating to a new generation. The church is a communication/storytelling machine. Narratives of changed lives, transformation, renewal, and, most importantly, the gospel include every component of a great story. But we communicate it like a textbook rather than a story. In many ways, story has taken a back seat to the cultural wave drowning out the unique voice of many churches. My prayer, is we revive the power of testimony to inspire people with our living God. Storytelling is the language of our culture.
You requested them, so here they are the slides from my session along with a brief quick story guide to help you in the story process; love to carry on the conversation. Thanks to ECHO for having me. It was a great honor.

There are a limited number of spots left for my Storytelling Coaching Community where you will learn the art of telling a memorable story with a camera. You can get more info by visiting: mattknisely.com/blog/coaching

Stories have away of engaging us. Transporting us into the depths of one imagination. Sometimes, stories cannot be communicated in a traditional way. Sometimes stories are better off to be experienced. This visual story from Tokyo-based artist Ryo Shimizu is formed by using strokes borrowed from Chinese characters and then restructuring them into letters of the Roman alphabet. For me looking deeply into this, my intereptation is there are a lot of cultural traditions balanced between the relationship between history and modern society. Just amazing.

This trailer is the first glimpse of One Day on Earth, an ambitious motion picture shot by thousands of filmmakers in every country in the world on a single day. The trailer alone includes footage from 90 individuals and organizations. The producer/director Kyle Ruddick is currently editing down 3,000 hours of film and is asking for help via Kickstarter to complete the project. I don’t know about you but it gave me chills.
